I had forgotten how satisfying instant gratification projects are. I did indeed cast on for a bulky cowl yesterday, and I bound it off this morning. And despite a quick game of yarn chicken, I won with 1.3 grams left over!
The yarn is Beatrix from Juniper Moon and it’s like a cloud, it’s so light and airy. My LYS had a sweater on display, and as much I’d love one myself, I need to test the yarn and make sure it’s not itchy, since it’s 30% angora. Not sure what I’ll do with the cowl if it is itchy, but that’s a problem for future Bonny. The pattern is River Deep, Mountain High, a free pattern from MollyGirl Yarn. It’s one of my absolute favorite patterns. I’ve lost count of how many I’ve made.
Today is sunny and it’s the husband’s birthday. We have steaks to grill and I made my first “fancy” cake: a flourless chocolate cake. I felt just like I was on the Great British Baking Show, except I was so glad I didn’t have Paul Hollywood there to judge me! The cake looks good; fingers crossed it tastes good too. Hope you all have a lovely Sunday too!
Ohh the cowl looks great! Happy birthday to your husband and I hope you both enjoy the cake!
“That’s a problem for future Bonny.” Brilliant. I’m going to adopt this, if you don’t mind. The next time I’m up at 3am, I’ll just tell myself that it’s a problem for future Alissa and to go back to sleep.
I confess, I didn’t come up with it. It’s actually from The Simpsons, which my brother quotes incessantly. So adopt away!
How the the chocolate cake taste? It looks wonderful, as does the cowl.
Oh it was so delicious! Very rich and dense.
Happy birthday to your DH! That is a beautiful cowl, and I love the “problem for future Bonny”!
Thanks! Wish I’d come up with the phrase myself! 😀
Love the cowl!! And that cake…my husband would have that for breakfast, lunch and dinner.
It sure is tempting!
Hooray for quick knits! They can feel so good to finish.
