Yesterday I managed to cast on five new projects! I didn’t get very far on any of them, but they’re ready to go when I want them. The one thing I realized is that they’re all a little more involved than I expected — not all that difficult, but none of them are easy mindless knitting. I’ll definitely need to add another project to my list for that purpose. Today I worked on my Mix Tape Cowl by Carissa Browning. It’s mosaic knitting, which looks so much more complicated than it really is, and this pattern is super easy to customize, with different stitch patterns you can choose from. I’ve got my first stripe done.

I definitely have to pay close attention to this one, because one mistake can throw off the whole pattern! It’s really fun, though, and I can tell it’s going to be addictive with those short, differently colored stripes! Did you cast on anything fun so far this year?
Happy Monday, friends.
That looks like a lot of fun! I haven’t cast on anything new this year yet, but I’m considering a new shawl or scarf or cowl. On the other hand, I have a couple of projects I really want to get finished soon too, so maybe I should dedicate more time just to them? Hard to say…
I vote for finishing first! It makes the casting on that much more satisfying, when your wips aren’t hanging over your head!
That’s what I’m thinking, too. Thanks for reinforcing my completionist side! 😀
I love those yarn colours. I enjoy mosaic knitting, it seems quicker and yet your project grows slower. The only thing I cast on this year was Dolores’ tail which is my first double knitting project and another arm 😂 I’m on a mission to finish her before I start anything new.
Ooh double knitting — I’ve never done that! I don’t blame you for wanting to finish her first. Then you won’t feel guilty when you cast on something new!
I can’t remember the last time I did any mosaic knitting. It is fun, and yours is looking great.
Thank you! This is only my second mosaic knitting project but I’m sure I’ll do more!
Alas, no new cast-ons for me yet. I am shackled with completing some UFO’s most of which aren’t very glamorous or exciting. But I plan to live vicariously through yours.
Oh good luck —you’ll feel so good when they’re done!!
I’m on a cast-on kick right now too! I started 2 pairs of socks and a new sweater, plus a spinning project already this month. Whew! Looking forward to seeing the colors in your cowl!
Oh fun! That’ll keep you busy for a while, I would think, or at least the sweater should!
Have you checked out the Knitmas Cowl? Not an “easy” project but looks to be fun and maybe up your alley.
I hadn’t before now but that looks really interesting, and what a good way to use up smaller amounts of yarn! Thanks for the suggestion!
That’s going to be so fun to knit and wear. The colors are perfect!
