I know, it’s Monday in Blogville which means I’m supposed to be writing about socks, but I can’t do that. A) I have no sock progress to share and B) I want to share today’s upcoming cast-on. My favorite LYS, Yarn Social, is partnering with another LYS to host a Dissent Cowl KAL/CAL. Since I wanted to make the cowl anyway, this seemed perfect! I’d already bought the pattern, but to participate I needed to buy at least one skein from either store. (Haha, “at least one skein”! Like it’s ever just one!)
Saturday found me at the yarn store along with a fellow knitter buddy, a poor soul I convinced to knit along with me. I’m excited about my choices!

I got a new jumbo winder for my birthday, so I used that to wind the yarn last night. The KAL starts today and I’ll be casting on as soon as my work day is done. But of course that’s not all I came home with. They had a new (to me, at least) color of WYS Christmas sock yarn, so that plus the green had to be mine as well.

Oh hey, look at that: there’s a bit of sock in here after all!
Also, this is my 1,000th post on this blog! Who knew I’d be hanging around so long? Happy Monday, friends!
Great color choices! After stalling at the halfway point for a few days, I picked mine up last night and did the first 2″ of the lower/”jeweled” section…it’s a fun pattern. Convinces you that you’re doing a lot of work because it looks complex, but in reality, it’s easy to follow once you’ve established the pattern!
Good to know! My friend is a little worried that it’ll be too hard for her, but I keep telling her she can handle it.
I love the Christmas sock yarn! I keep getting tempted by their colors, but so far have convinced myself that I need to knit at least some of the sock yarn I have before I can buy more…
Oh yeah I totally SHOULD do that. But then it just doesnโt happen and the yarn follows me home!

You did great at the LYS!
Lovely yarn:) Congratulations on 1000 posts:)
Ohh I love the colors you’ve chosen for your cowl – I really need to get my hands on some Neighborhood Fiber Co – I actually had a skein I bought at FiberSpace in VA but for some unknown/infuriating reason gave it away!
So far Iโm loving it! Thick and squishy, even for a fingering weight!
Love the yarns you have picked out – can’t wait to see your cowl and Christmas socks ๐ Congratulations, and here’s hoping for thousands more!
Thanks!
Happy 1,000th blog post!
Great yarn choices! I didn’t know Monday’s were dedicated to socks. I don’t write daily so maybe it’s just as well!
Lol Sarah at Mildly Granola started it a couple of months ago and a few of us have just been playing along. Itโs fun when it works out!
That’s fun. I love reading Sarah’s blog.
I love both sets of colours, but obviously the green is my favourite! I’d love to try some WYS self-striping, but I don’t remember ever seeing it in my local shops.
