Are you doing a lot of gift knitting this year? I’ve done some in the past but this year I’ve got a whopping ONE knit gift planned, and I’m just fine with that. I needed someone new to make socks for — the girl and I both have a ton, I’m not convinced the husband wears them, and the boy only likes boring solid dark colors — and I have a nephew who loves handknit socks. Perfect! The only downside is that he’s growing up and his feet are discouragingly large, but when you do a simple pattern, it goes pretty quickly.
Pattern is my favorite Vanilla Latte socks. The yarn is some self-striping Patons I picked up at Joann, and while it’s not the softest, it should make warm and durable socks. Now let’s just hope they fit!
The socks look great and you were smart to just plan one gift knit! I have 11 to do:(
Ack! Good luck!
I have two worsted hats I’m planning to knit. That should be easy, right?
Ah one knitted present, how manageable! I’m trying not to think about how many presents I have to make yet…
Eh, who really needs a knitted gift anyway? 😉
Love the socks! I’ve knit my hubby a pair in that exact yarn and he has never worn them. I’m seriously tempted to take them back!
You totally should!!
Fun sock! I have been doing my gift knitting all year, so I’ve gotten most of my gifts already finished. I just have a total of three socks left to make. (Unless I decide to add something else last-minute.)
Oh, well done! Three socks is nothing!
Yeah… as long as I actually work on the socks and not shiny new projects… 😉
I’m knitting a small child’s hat, and that’s it. We put enough pressure on ourselves at Christmas as it is – if there was anything more to knit the pressure to finish in time would take all the pleasure out of it.
It does make it less fun when you feel like you have to do it!
