WIP Wednesday: Socks & Puzzle

Yeah, balancing blogging with a busy full-time job is a little tricky. My brain is tired at night, plus I just want to spend my downtime knitting! I’ve been mostly working on bigger projects but I did manage to finish one sock. Sure, it’s a shortie sock but that’s something!

Can you believe I don’t have any purple shortie socks in my extensive handknit sock collection?? Obviously I need to remedy that ASAP.

Besides knitting, I’ve been trying to do more reading. I’m reading Jason Kander’s memoir for one book group and need to reread Haroun and the Sea of Stories for my other one. Plus I usually have a fluffy novel going too. And I’ve also been trying to work on my yarn puzzle!

This might be the hardest puzzle I’ve ever done. There is so much pink/peach/salmon/orange!! I really need to set up my Ott light to see the pieces better. Because apparently I have old eyes now.

Happy Wednesday, friends.

WIP Wednesday

What did I do after finishing that pair of worsted weight socks? Immediately cast on another, of course! This one’s for the boy to wear with his Doc Martens. I didn’t have enough of the Mountain Meadow Tweed left, so I pulled some Cascade Eco Cloud from deep stash. It’s not superwash so they’ll definitely need to be handwashed but it’s fine, I’ll just throw them in when I wash my handknit socks. I am using the Mountain Meadow leftovers for accents though.

img_7496The toes will also be the darker brown. He says they’re “vibey”, which is apparently a good thing. However, now I am tired of brown so I need to switch back to something lighter and brighter! Also my new puzzles came today so I have something besides knitting to keep me occupied.

Still not much knitting

My knitting mojo has been on hiatus this past week, which is weird and strange since it’s a habit that I seek for comfort at other times. But I’ve had the urge a little bit this weekend so I’m crossing my fingers that I’m getting back into the swing of things. Since I haven’t been knitting, I’ve been hard at work at my darn gray/black puzzle and I’m happy to say it’s done and the glue is drying as I type!

Now I just need to order a frame and this one will be off the table and onto my wall. I’ve ordered some more puzzles, more colorful ones this time.

We’ve had gorgeous spring weather this weekend; hope you have too, and are getting to enjoy it!
