After a three-month furlough, I went back to work this week. Not on-site, still work from home, thank goodness. But, guys, I forgot how to be the job-doing kind of person, and I am tired. Part of it is just catching up from being gone so long and trying to get back in the loop, and part of it is just getting my brain back in shape to add work in with all my other thoughts and worries and anxieties. And of course part of it is because I’m not sleeping well (see first two parts). So, it’s bittersweet but overall I am trying to focus on being grateful I have a job to come back to. And all of that means that this has been the extent of my knitting this week.
It’s a new sock, because my other sock is lace, and I needed a good, mindless sock. This is for a friend who recently moved away, and it will be her first pair of handknit socks. Maybe I will make her a convert and I can just start mailing her socks, because I am getting overrun with socks in my own sock drawer(s).
Happy Friday, friends! Here’s hoping for a refreshing weekend for all of us!
This is me all the time. I love my job and I’m grateful for it, but I don’t have a lot of energy left for life. I have to be okay with not doing anything, even though I’d rather be knitting but simply don’t have the energy. I’m glad to hear you are back to work! We’re having a virtual knit this Sunday at 1PM EST. Let me know if you are interested in joining in.
Glad it’s not just me! I’m not sure I’m up to being social this weekend, but ask me next time? 🙂
I sure will!
I hope you can get back into the swing of things easily, and that you’re able to knit more for relaxation! That’s one of the things that helps me the most. And congrats on being un-furloughed! I’m glad you can work from home.
I am so glad you are back to work! Even though work can definitely be tiring, it’s good to have a job – it removes a lot of worries. Everything will balance back out again!
Thank you, I think it will too. All in due time! 🙂
Be kind to yourself, there’s been a lot of stuff going on in the world and its okay not to be able to just turn on ‘normal’
Thank you! 🙂
Welcome Back! Beautiful sock and yarn! Are you sharing the pattern?
It’s very slightly modified from the Vanilla Latte pattern on Ravelry.
Yay I’m glad you got your job back! I’m sure you’ll get back into the swing of it so it won’t be so tiring.
What yarn are you using for the sock? It’s gorgeous.
Oh yarn, yeah! Had to go back and check because I had no memory of it: it’s Plymouth Yarn Co Happy Feet!
Beautiful socks! Congratulations on the return to work.
