The girl had a birthday recently, and because she wasn’t home to celebrate, I had to send a little birthday box with a few extra gifts. Over the holidays, I’d said I would make her a yellow hat, but then one of the nieces claimed it, so I got another skein of the yarn and a pompom. And what would do but to get a second skein and a second pompom, because then they could be mix and match hats??
The gold is the July hat and it was super fast to knit. The black is Winter Walk, a hat that I saw on Sarah’s blog and fell in love with, and I knew I had to make one even if it involves darn cables!
I hate to admit it, but it was pretty fun to make and didn’t even take too long. Now I kind of want to make another one. Maybe. The yarn for both is Woolstok Worsted from Blue Sky Fibers. It’s a little rougher than I might typically pick, but you can get a small skein for around $9 and that’s enough for an adult-sized hat plus maybe a small pompom. And the stitch definition in the cables is so good.
Which combo is your favorite?
These hats are so lovely! I wish I could wear yellow. It is such a fun color.
It’s growing on me but I don’t like to wear it either.
Beautiful hats! I love them both:)
Thank you!
Great hats! I love the look of the white pompom on the yellow hat. Even if I can’t wear yellow, myself.
And I love cables! Glad you enjoyed knitting them, at least a little. I find that cables are easiest on big yarn, so hats are perfect for cable knitting.
I can’t wear it either, so I’m glad this is going to my daughter!
I still don’t love knitting cables, but I definitely love how they look!
It’s such a happy color combination! 😀
I do love knitting cables. Such a small little thing can make a huge visual impact. I love knitting lace too, though, so maybe I just like patterning in general.
I like the second combo! With the blue on the black.
Those hats look great. I really like the teal and yellow together.
That’s my fave too, even though I’d never wear it.
Both your hats turned out beautiful!
Thank you!
Both hats are beautiful! I love the mix and match idea:)
